Queenfish

QUEENFISH (Scomberoides commersonnianus)

Queen fish is native to most tropical warm seas. They can grow up to 50 inches (120cm) and are great sportfish. Most often they are found in schools and occasionally follow small fish to the flats on high tides.

Queenfish are predatory fish that fees in schools, they can enter flats on high tides, but most fishing is done by boat in feeding frenzy. We fish for them with minnow imitations, occasionally also smaller poppers.

Equipment:

For queenfish we use 10 to 12wt, 9ft rods. Reels are extremely important, since they need to have strong and smooth drag. When hooked they are extremely acrobatic and great game fish. Fly fishing leader ends with 30 to 20lb tippet.
