FLY FISHING MALDIVES SEASONS

Maldives are hot and sunny all year round. Temperatures range between 73F (23C) and 89F (31C). Best and driest time on the northern atolls is between November and April, here the highest rainfall is from May until November, picking in June. Southern atolls from November to March. On southern atolls there is less rainfall from June to September. So season is pretty much all year round, depending on location. Maldives are home to thousands coral reefs, since water temperature never falls under 75F (24C), making it ideal year round fly fishery.  In recent years we have seen that southern atolls and islands have faced more heavy rainfall so weather there can be a bit more unpredictable.

NORTHERN MALDIVES ATOLLS

Northern atolls are made up of Haa Alifu atoll, Haa Dhaalu atoll, Shaviyani atoll, Noonu atoll, Maamakunudhoo atoll, Baa atoll, Goidhoo attol, Rasdoo atoll, Lhaviyani atoll and Raa atoll. Male atoll is considered to be cental atoll. For those atolls proffered time is at young moon on spring tides. That usually happens in March.

SOUTHERN ATOLLS

Southern are made up of South Male atoll, Alifu atoll, Alifu Dhaalu atoll, Faafu Atoll, Vaavu atoll, Meemu atoll, Thaa atoll, Laamu atoll, Gaafu Alifu atoll, Gnaviyani atoll and Seenu atoll.

Different than northern atolls here rainy season is a bit different and usually there is less rain in June, July and August. Better fishing is usually starting at young moon.
